
A 3-day module following a British Occupational Hygiene Society syllabus, designed to cover the techniques of asbestos sample identification using polarised light microscopy.
The syllabus involves a written examination and a practical assessment, requiring delegates to analyse 6 unknown samples using a schedule based on HSL scoring. The completed papers are assessed and delegates reaching the required standard are awarded the BOHS P401 Proficiency Certificate
This module provides theoretical and practical knowledge in the techniques of asbestos sample identification using polarised light microscopy (PLM).

Anyone undertaking asbestos sample analysis using polarised light microscopy (PLM) in an IS017025 accredited laboratory.
Successful completion of the course and examinations will provide a recognised qualification in the identification of asbestos in bulk samples using polarised light microscopy.
The course is tutor led using classroom presentation and laboratory-based practical work.
